Gender and sexuality can be reasons folks enter therapy. They are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, substance use, relationship problems, and other experiences that impact their daily lives. These issues are not specific to the LGBTQIAP population, these are human issues that many of us struggle with on a day-to-day basis.
Unfortunately, gender and sexuality can cause extra layers of shame, trauma, and identity issues related to the ways their sexual and gender identities have been responded to by their families, communities, and society as a whole. The professionals at Fishtown Wellness Center recognize the issues that permeate the lived experience of members of the LGBTQIAP community and incorporate an inclusive and empowering approach when working with individuals.
Below are some online resources to be used outside of the therapy space. Fishtown Wellness Center does not endorse or guarantee and of the services listed below. All resources should be used within the support of a mental health professional and does not replace the need for therapy.
