Join us while we create community support and accountability through group engagement and sharing of resources\, skills\, and the promotion of strategies to help bring (or maintain) balance to your relationship with alcohol. \nAbout the Facilitator: \nKatherine Wendler\, MFT\, MEd\, Pre-Licensed Professional \nKatherine (She/Her) is a systemically-trained therapist with experience working in substance abuse at an outpatient and intensive outpatient level of care\, conducting individual\, couples\, and group therapy in association with substance use. SUMMARY:Weekly drop-in session: Intro to Mindfulness\, Breathwork & Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Meditation does not need to be intimidating. In fact\, it can be a place we anticipate going to play\, explore and experience our deepest joy.\n\n\n\nMindfulness and meditation has long been misunderstood\, though we all are familiar with its general mental and physical health benefits: \n– More positive emotions \n– Longer lasting emotional stability \n– Heightened focus throughout the day \n \nDespite the draw of these benefits\, many people do not practice. They often say\, “I don’t meditate because I think that I’m doing it wrong.” Others explain\, “I’m not good at it. I can’t stop my thoughts.“ \nThese limiting beliefs are not true at all\, and I’ll explain why! In this class\, we will deconstruct the beliefs like these that hold us back in meditation. Together\, we will de-mystify the practice of mindfulness and begin to tap into the transformational effects it can have on your life.   \n \nIn each class\, we will offer: \n– Introduction to the basics of mindfulness\, breathwork and meditation in a way that makes it simple to apply and practice. \n– Discussion of your possible frustrations and/or misunderstandings of these practices. \n– Offer support and guidance as you become familiar with yourself in this new environment and practice. \n \nJoin me in this exploration and creative practice. If you stick around long enough\, you’ll begin to surprise yourself with what transforms in your mind\, your body and in your life.\nClasses will begin November 9th\, and will be hosted weekly on Mondays at 12:30pm – 1:30pm via Zoom.\n \nInformation about the instructor: \nThrough her 15+ years of experience as a holistic wellness and fitness coach\, Brenna Steiner has developed a powerful integrative approach that guides soul seekers looking to support their well-being and enhance both mental and physical performance. Utilizing breathwork and mindfulness as a foundation\, Brenna empowers clients through movement coaching\, nutrition counseling\, and meditation practice. Her intention as a coach is to fuel and support others who have a dream and need to build a body and mind that can support that dream and see it through.

SUMMARY:Mindfulness for Intimacy & Connection
DESCRIPTION:As givers and receivers of touch\, learn how to actively engage with your senses by incorporating mindfulness into your sexual practices. Explore the relationship between meditation\, sensuality\, mental health\, and self-awareness. This class integrates Western Mindfulness with Sensate Touch\, an 8-step process used in sex therapy. This workshop hopes to enhance the first step of Sensate Touch with techniques such as grounding and body scans. This approach to intimacy has been beneficial to folks with general anxiety\, performance anxiety\, difficulty with focus and attention\, or those living with PTSD. Using mindfulness and body-awareness in conjunction with sensate touch techniques\, students will learn to enhance their connection to their partner(s) through physical touching. You do not need prior knowledge of the subject to attend this class. All touching in this class excludes breasts and genitals\, and will require affirmative consent. All are welcome\, but non-cis and/or queer and/or poly folks are encouraged to attend. This class is an inclusive space for LGBTQIA2+ students. This event will be ran by Jules Crain. The event is from 6:00-8:00pm on Saturday\, October 5th.\n\nJules Crain is a registered yoga teacher\, mindfulness meditation instructor\, Thai massage-style bodyworker\, and gut health enthusiast. They received their B.S. in Cognitive Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and completed yoga teacher training at Studio 34 in Philadelphia two years later. In addition to private classes\, they have taught at studios\, parks\, and conventions around the city. You can follow them at http://www.instagram.com/jules.crain\n
